O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint,- 184 (Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew. 185 Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.

ASSALAMUALAIKUM WARAHMATULLAHI WABARAKATUH

In the day following our convention, I am getting telephone calls and emails expressing thanks for another

great convention. I am always pleased to know that the effort of so many is appreciated.

I would like to thank the Badr and FHF convention committees verbally and in the form of some sort of

bonus for the extra  work and effort prior to, during and after the convention. I also like to thanks our sponsors,

exhibitors, speakers and especially,  all of the volunteers that make our convention what it is. It would be

impossible to put on a convention with several events in a four day period without the volunteer help.

Thank you so much for the brothers and sisters who participated in this year’s convention at the

Hyatt Regency Hotel Crystal City, Arlington, VA. I don’t remember any year that had more favorable comments

than we did this convention. I hope to have the pictures on the website soon so it can jog pleasant memories.

In talking with many of you, there were just as many of you thatwould have loved to have joined us there if it

had been possible.

If you attended the convention, and felt that it benefited you, I would deeply appreciate it if

you would take the time and drop some of our sponsors or exhibitors a brief thank you note for their contribution

to the convention.

Thanks in advance for taking a few moments to thank those who help us bring you a fantastic

convention. The convention costs almost $200,000 thousand dollars this year and as an individual member,

we ask you to be a member and support your organization.

When First Hijrah Foundation was chosen to host the 2010 Badr anniversary convention, we knew that the

capabilities and hospitality of the community would be phenomenal. Now that the convention is over,

we can confidently say the FHF community exceeded all expectations.FHF community last hosted the

Badr Conference in 2005, and much has changed since the 10th anniversary convention.

Preparing for this event required a more than 100 volunteers. Above all, putting together a successful modern

convention requires the patience, support, and accommodation of the Badr leadership.

And as vice president of Badr and Convention Manager for the convention, I can attest that Badr is growing

in the mind and heart of every Ethiopian Muslims in Diaspora. The convention was a great success.

History was made, leadership was on display. And all of it came together with Badr and its member

communities (chapters). I want to extend a warm and sincere "thank you" to all volunteers for making our time

in the convention unforgettable.

Finally, Badr leadership and I would like to thank each and every one of you for making the 10th annual convention

unique and successful.

We hope to see you next year in San Jose, California for the 11th Badr convention.

Sincerely,

Taha Seid, CPA

Vice President and 2010 Convention Manager
